“We’re not like other clubs who can spend fortunes. We invest in players who’ll be with the club for a long time, who’ll create the character of the club, who’ll create excitement for our fans. And we have many players like that. We’re good at that and we’re going to continue that way.”
“We have set our stall out for certain players. We want to make sure the evolution of United continues because I’ve been at the club for 25 years and I have to maintain a certain standard that keeps us there all the time.”
- Sir Alex Ferguson
If we don’t win the league it will hurt a lot of people, but the first person it will hurt will be the manager. But we always bounce back. I trust everyone working for this club. I would never turn my back to Manchester United. If we don’t win, all of the players - including myself - will say that we have to do much better if we want to win the league again. So we will try and rebuild something that’s stronger and try and win every competition next season. That’s the United way: every year we start the season wanting to win every trophy. We need to make sure that next year we give everything to do that.

To stay up in the Premier League they need a point. Of course, City are favourites – there’s no doubt about it. The crowd will be behind them, they’ll be into the referee as they were against us. They’ll be doing their best to win the game. QPR are fighting for their lives, though, and you have to think a team in that position has a chance. I just wish Sparky [former Reds striker and current Queens Park Rangers manager Mark Hughes] was playing!
